01

What is partnership tax automation?

Partnership tax automation is software that helps tax teams calculate, review, and report complex partnership tax data with less manual work and greater traceability. It can cover source‑data ingestion, allocations, tiering, K‑1/K‑3 reporting, state and international workflows, review, and tax return outputs. Crimson Tree Software's TIERS platform is built for enterprise‑scale partnership engagements that require deterministic calculations and audit‑ready review.

02

Who are Crimson Tree's solutions for?

Crimson Tree / TIERS AI solutions are built for organizations that live with complex US partnership tax:

  • Large CPA firms, such as Big 4 and top-tier middle-market firms, that handle thousands of K-1s and tiered structures each year.
  • Asset and wealth managers, including private equity, real estate, credit, hedge funds, and fund-of-funds.
  • Specialty tax providers supporting high-volume compliance, consulting, and transaction modeling.

If you manage high volumes of partnership returns and K-1s, or complex partnership tax modeling problems, and you feel imprisoned by spreadsheets and traditional prep software, we're building for you.

03

How is TIERS different from GoSystem or traditional tax compliance software?

TIERS is built for complex partnership tax calculation and operations, while traditional tax compliance systems are often centered on return preparation and filing. TIERS handles specialized workflows such as source‑data mapping, tiered allocations, K‑1/K‑3 reporting, state and international calculations, reconciliation, and traceable review. It can complement downstream compliance tools by producing controlled, explainable partnership tax outputs.

04

What end-user tools can Crimson Tree's solutions integrate with?

We know tax professionals live in familiar tools. Crimson Tree's systems are designed to plug into what you already use, including:

  • Excel (native XLSX exports and imports).
  • Power BI, Tableau, and other BI tools (via clean, documented data feeds).
  • Alteryx and ETL pipelines (CSV, parquet, and open data formats).
  • Document repositories (SharePoint, network drives, cloud storage) for PDF and image ingest.

Most clients start by feeding our outputs directly into Excel and their existing reporting stack, then add richer integrations over time.

05

Does Crimson Tree integrate with tax return filing systems?

Yes. Crimson Tree's prior and current systems have integrated with widely used tax return platforms, including:

  • Thomson Reuters GoSystem
  • CCH Axcess / ProSystem fx

We typically integrate in one of two ways:

  • As a calculation and data engine upstream of your current filing system, producing validated data packages that drop cleanly into your existing process.
  • As a parallel "source of truth" that generates K-1s, footnotes, and other forms, while your existing tax software remains the final e-file and e-signing system.

Our platform is designed to generate IRS-ready data and forms so you can reduce your dependence on legacy prep systems over time, while still meeting all filing requirements today.

06

How can I buy Crimson Tree's solutions?

Crimson Tree keeps the buying process straightforward and outcome-focused:

  1. Discovery call (no obligation): We learn about your entity counts, document volumes, current tools, and pain points.
  2. Scoped pilot or proof of concept: fixed-price engagement with clearly defined success criteria (cycle time, error rates, coverage, etc.).
  3. Production rollout: options include per-entity licensing, and/or platform subscription (for always-on engines like TIERS AI).

We do not sell "hours and rates." Every engagement has clear deliverables and fixed fees aligned to measurable outcomes.

If you're ready to explore options, reach out to us by email and we'll propose an initial scope within a few business days.

07

How are Crimson Tree's solutions deployed?

Crimson Tree supports modern, enterprise-friendly deployment patterns:

  • Cloud-hosted (recommended): deployed into Azure, usually in a single-tenant environment dedicated to your firm. Can run in a client-managed tenant to meet IT and security standards.
  • Hybrid models: calculation engines in the cloud, with secure connections to on-prem systems.
  • Data residency and security: we work with your security team to align on data residency, encryption, access control, and retention policies. TIERS is built using the same security and operational practices that support our previous SOC 2–certified offerings. While TIERS is not a SOC 2-certified SAAS application, it is fully prepared to begin the SOC 2 audit process.

In all cases, you retain control over your data. Our systems are built to meet large-firm security and privacy expectations.

08

Does Crimson Tree offer custom solutions for special requirements?

Yes. Many of Crimson Tree's most successful platforms began as targeted solutions to difficult, high-value problems, such as:

  • Novel partnership transaction models (e.g., Up-C restructurings).
  • Specialized Section 704(b)/(c), 743(b), 734(b) allocation engines.
  • Tax adjustment engines for portfolios with 1M+ transactions per year.
  • Custom footnote extraction and classification challenges.

Our typical pattern:

  • Start with your specific business problem (e.g., "We can't scale this allocation/modeling/document task").
  • Design a fixed-price project with clear software-technical and tax-technical success criteria.
  • Deliver a solution that can either sit alongside our existing platforms, or evolve into a broader product offering if it's a common industry need.

Today's "one-off" problems are tomorrow's flagship products. We're happy to explore with you.

09

What problems can I solve with Crimson Tree / TIERS AI?

Here are some of the concrete problems Crimson Tree's systems are designed to tackle:

  • Complex partnership allocations and tiering: compute GAAP-to-tax adjustments, allocations, and tiered structures for partnerships of any size; handle complex 704(c) and 704(b) revaluations; produce repeatable, defensible results.
  • Book-to-tax and basis tracking at scale: maintain capital accounts and tax basis across transfers, redemptions, and complex transactions; support M-1/M-2 and basis rollforwards without fragile spreadsheets.
  • State and international reporting complexity: generate and validate state K-1s, apportionment schedules, and other state forms; support complex international adjustments and reporting in partnership structures.
  • Data quality and integration headaches: standardize and map client GL/TB data into a tax-sensitized classification system; provide clean exports into Excel, BI tools, and downstream tax systems.

In short: if your team is copying numbers from PDFs, wrestling with complex partnership structures, or running the same reconciliations over and over again, there's a good chance we can automate it in a way that is faster, more reliable, and easier to explain to your reviewers, auditors, and regulators.
